Glossary of Roulette Terms:

A Black Bet: A bet on the number that the ball will land on will be black. Odds 1-1.

A corner Bet: This is a bet which is placed on the corner four boxes on the roulette wheel.

European Roulette: Roulette which is played on a European fashioned wheel that has a single zero and 37 numbers.

Inside Bet: A bet which is placed on numbers that are located on the inside portion of the table.

Jeu Zero: This means “Zero Game“. A series of bets on numbers which are either side of the zeros on the table.

Le Tiers du Cylindre: This means the thirds of the wheel. This is a term used for mainly betting on any numbers between 27 and 33 on the wheel.

Neighbors: These are the two numbers which are to the left of a number on the roulette wheel as well as the two numbers to the right. These are used when betting on often a straight up number. Like saying “Eleven and its neighbors,” this means that you want to bet on 11,36 13, 30, 8 (These are neighboring numbers on the roulette wheel).

Orphelins: Means “orphans”. This is usually the name of numbers, not in the “visions” or “tiers” bet. This bet mainly consists on a straight bet on 1, then 4 bets on the splits which can be 6/9, 17/20, 14/17, and 31/34.

Outside Bet: A bet made on parts of the table which aren’t really numbers since they lie on the outside of the table.

Red Bet: A bet that the number on which the ball will land will be red.

Six Line Bet: This is a bet on two horizontal rows of numbers which are adjacent to each other.

Table Limit: A limit on how much of a bet you can place. Usually the table limit on a straight bet is lower than that of outside bets.

Voisins du Zero: Means neighbors of zeros, and it’s a term used for betting on 17 numbers of the roulette wheel between 22 and 25. There are 2 chips on the 0,2,3 combo. The bets have the following splits 12/15, 4/7, 19/22, 18/21 and 32/35. and there are two chips on 25/26/28/29 as the corner bet.

Wheel: The term ‘wheel’ refers to the roulette wheel. This is what spins and has the numbers / pockets labeled 1-36 on it.
